  • 1. Financial Support: The government offers financial assistance under PM Kusum Yojana for the installation of solar-powered pumps to farmers and rural households. The subsidy can be up to 90% of the total cost, depending on the type of beneficiary and location.
  • 2. Types of Beneficiaries:
    • Farmers: Individual farmers and groups of farmers are eligible to apply for solar pumps.
    • Rural Household Users: Subsidy for the installation of solar-powered pumps to meet the irrigation and drinking water needs of rural households.
    • Government & Community Uses: Subsidies are available for government institutions and community-based initiatives to support public water supply and irrigation systems.
  • 3. Subsidy Structure:
    • For Farmers: The government will cover up to 60% of the cost for small farmers and 30% for medium and large farmers.
    • For Rural Drinking Water Systems: A 90% subsidy is provided for rural drinking water schemes.
  • 4. Solar Pump Installation:
    • Solar pumps are provided for irrigation, drinking water, and other agricultural uses. These systems reduce dependency on traditional energy sources, providing a sustainable and eco-friendly solution.
    • The pump systems are designed for ease of use in rural and remote areas, with minimal maintenance needs.
  • 5. Process for Application:
    • Interested beneficiaries can apply online or offline through state nodal agencies or implementing agencies authorized by the government.
    • Farmers and rural households will need to provide necessary documents such as land records, identity proof, and financial details to complete the application process.
  • 6. Expected Benefits:
    • Reduction in electricity costs by replacing diesel pumps with solar-powered pumps.
    • Promotion of clean and renewable energy in rural areas.
    • Improved agricultural productivity with better access to irrigation during dry seasons.
    • Increased water availability for both agricultural and non-agricultural uses in rural areas.
  • 7. Government Certification: All solar pump systems are government-approved, ensuring high quality and reliability. The solar pump installation is carried out by certified vendors and contractors under the PM Kusum Yojana.
  • 8. Additional Incentives:
    • In addition to the subsidy, farmers who install solar pumps can avail of interest subsidies on loans taken for the installation of these pumps under the scheme.
